Being You
Being You
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them,
for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
It’s daunting, isn’t it? Facing the pain from the past is certainly not on the top 10 list of fun things to do. And it’s probably why most people don’t do it. To be truly healed and set free, though, there is no way around it. If you have chosen to do the spiritual growth work suggested in Seeing You and Growing You, you are probably feeling rather uncomfortable inside your own skin right now. Don’t let that detour you! You are on the right track—the path to living free and knowing how to enjoy life!
There is no doubt that the devil will try to drag you down and tell you it’s not worth it or that it hurts too much. He may try to tell you that healing won’t come so don’t bother. He might even attempt to paralyze you with fear. He’ll use fatigue and depression to distract and discourage you. But know this—it’s all lies! Do not believe any of them. God is in control, not him. God is our Healer, Comforter, and Redeemer. He is not capable of lying (Hebrews 6:14), so He will bring every single one of His promises to pass. Besides, you are His beloved child—a masterpiece formed from His very own hands. He will never leave you hanging (Deuteronomy 31:8).
During this part of your journey, you will also learn to love yourself. It is okay to be you. Being you, without the pressure to perform or to control, brings glory to God. So relax. Breathe. Accept yourself wherever you are because it’s exactly where God wants you to be. Know that it’s okay to feel your emotions. God created them. They are not bad or wrong. Love and nurture yourself with positive self-talk. Use the Truth about who you are in Christ as spiritual warfare against the enemy’s assaults. Read the Scriptures below every day to remind yourself of your true identity. Memorize them so they become imprinted on your heart. Repeat them each time the devil lies to you. When the enemy shoots an arrow, turn it into a flower.
